April 2011 - New Garbage Bin Enclosures

Following changes to the garbage collection schedule the ARB was asked to look into an option for storing garbage bins outside of the garage while meeting the Lake Wilson Preserve restrictive covenants. The covenants require garbage bins to be stored out of sight of the street and neighbouring lots.

Accordingly, the ARB has put together a scheme for a bin enclosure which any home owner may adopt without further permission being required of the ARB as long as the enclosure meets the following specifications.

    - The base of the enclosure is to be made of a concrete pad large enough to accommodate 2 bins along the side of the home. Approximately 68" in length x 43" wide
   - The enclosure is to be surrounded by fencing painted the same color as the home. The permitted fencing is a Lowes product. Product number 99305-457-WF8264
   - The fencing is to be high enough to completely hide the bins but no more than 9 inches higher than the bins.

    - The fencing must be erected so as to hide the bins from view from the street or neighbouring lots.
    - The Enclosure is to be located at the same side of the home as the air conditioning equipment.

April 2011 - Quarter 2 invoices have been emailed.

Quarter 2 invoices have been emailed to all owners and payment is now due.  Your timely payment is appreciated.

April 2011 - How to report a streetlight outage

Streetlights & streetlighting at Lake Wilson are the responsibility of Progress Energy.  The HOA reports any outages that we are aware of to Progress Energy and they are very responsive, with most outages repaired within 2 days.  If you notice a streetlight outage, you can report it online at www.progress-energy.com/streetlightrepair or you can call them on 1-800-700-8744. You will need the physical location of the streetlight and/or the streetlight number.  This can be found on a yellow plate at the base of the streetlight.

April 2011 - Who has been churning up the lawn at the entrance to Lake Wilson?

For a number of months the lawn by the entrance to Lake Wilson has regurlarly been driven over. This has left deep furrows in the soil and the grass has died. We have finally found the culprit. One of the school buses has been using the grass area as a turning circle.  The driver has been approached and has been politely asked to 'keep off the grass'.  The landscapers have been asked to rake the soil over and hopefully the grass will re-grow.

March 2011 - Landscaping schedule for March

During March the landscapers undertook the following work at Lake Wilson:

  • All Palm trees were trimmed and dead, damaged and brown branches were removed.
  • A liquid fertilizer/insecticide was applied to all Palm trees to improve the condition.
  • A lawn weed control application was undertaken.
  • A granular lawn fertilizer was applied to all lawns.

The regular weekly mowing will re-commence in April.
